Croatians elect anti-corruption president

January 11th, 2010 (09:53 am)

Croatia has elected a legal expert and classical music composer as the president it hopes will lead it into the EU.

Opposition Social Democrat candidate Ivo Josipovic beat the current Mayor of Zagreb in Sunday’s ballot with just over 60 percent of the vote.

In his victory speech he told supporters:

“I strongly believe that we all want to live in a country where work is paid for and crime is punished, in a country of social justice.”

I have visited this blog by accident, but I found it quite interesting. You're doing a good job (and most importantly it's free). A greeting.

lets be BFFs lol

I was also directed here though a happy accident. I've been geeking out on it for the last 2 hours! I moved to Chicago to be with a Croatian I was totally in love with. That relationship has since ended (sadly) and I've been thinking about going over there solo. I was really struck by your videos and would love to talk to you further. Plus I know a great Croatian deli in Jeff. Park you can hit up if you miss proschute (Sp.) and Chivape (murdered! Sp.)

Living in Croatia

I've been reading a little about your experience living and teaching in Croatia. One might say we share interesting commonalities. I am American, gay, and my boyfriend is Serbian. In 3 or 4 months I will be moving to Croatia, most likely Karlovac or Zagreb to live with him. While he has a secure job, I am trying to figure out what I will do. I am currently getting my CELTA certification to qualify to teach English. Besides the job hunt I am reluctant about moving to Croatia. I am worried that I don't speak enough of the language, that the people will be homophobic, and that I will not make friends. If I could email you to ask you more information or if you have any connections to language schools within Zagreb I would sincerely appreciate it. Please email me when you get the opportunity, I would like to speak more about it.

Thanks again, and excellent blog.
